Route summary: Adelaide – Renmark – Spectacle Lake – Monash
Think sunshine, riverside fun and plenty of space to play. The Riverland is a total winner for families! With loads of outdoor adventures, iconic Aussie experiences and some serious fun for all ages, it’s the kind of holiday that actually feels like just that!
You’ll be based at Discovery Parks – Renmark Riverfront for all five nights, and trust us — you might have trouble convincing the kids to leave. From the splash park and pool to the jumping pillow and pedal go-karts, it’s literally like a holiday within a holiday! Get ready for fun, food, fresh air and quality family time.
Stay
Discovery Parks – Renmark Riverfront is a resort-style holiday park right on the banks of the Murray, with something for every age — a waterpark, games room, tennis court, outdoor and indoor movie nights, kayaking, barbecue facilities and the beloved giant jumping pillow.
Day 1
Adelaide – Renmark
Total Driving Distance: Approx. 255km from Adelaide
Morning:
- Hit the road from Adelaide and make your way to Renmark.
Lunch:
- Once in Renmark, stop in at Cinnamon Grove Cafe for lunch. Sit outside in their shady garden while the kids stretch their legs and explore the cubby (and you explore their gift shop)!
Afternoon:
- Check into Discovery Parks – Renmark Riverfront and settle in. Let the kids loose on the jumping pillow or pump track while you unpack. They will be SO excited to explore!
- Spend the afternoon enjoying the facilities at Discovery Park. Cool off in the splash park, play a family game of giant chess or hire a pedal bike to explore the grounds.
- Take the kids for a kayak — they’re available to hire on site!
Dinner:
- Fire up the barbecue at one of the communal spots or grab takeaway from Nui’s Thai Kitchen and enjoy a riverside feast at the park and your first sunset over the magnificent mighty Murray.
Evening:
- Rug up and settle in for movie night at the outdoor cinema under the stars.

Day 2
Discovery Parks (Renmark Riverfront) – Loveday 4×4 Adventure Park (Spectacle Lake)
Total driving distance: Approx. 100kms return
Morning:
- Drive out to Loveday 4×4 Adventure Park for a day of high-octane fun! Book into a Rally Car Experience, a Turbo Buggy Hot Lap or an Ultimate Off Road Experience. If you have a 4WD, why not put it to use on one of their designated 4WD tracks. A day here is guaranteed to create lasting memories.
Lunch:
- Stay and enjoy a casual bite at the Loveday Tavern before your drive back to home base.
Afternoon:
- Spend the afternoon enjoying the facilities back at Discovery Parks.
Dinner:
Head back into town and enjoy a relaxed dinner at Renmark Club for great food with spectacular river views.

Day 3
Stay in Renmark
Morning:
- Book in with Canoe the Riverland for a guided family tour through the winding creeks and lagoons of the Murray. With over 100 species of birds in this area, as well as emus, kangaroos and the occasional goanna or koala — you’re guaranteed to see your fair share of wildlife!
Lunch:
- Head to 23rd Street Distillery and have lunch at The Distillery Restaurant. Sample their range of gin, whiskey and brandy and take your favourite drop home. There are kid-friendly options on the menu and a grassed area outside where they can play.
Afternoon:
- Head back to Discovery Parks and let the kids loose while you put your feet up with a cuppa.
Dinner:
- Head to the Nanya Bistro at Hotel Renmark for a classic pub meal overlooking the river. Alternatively, grab some takeaway and enjoy back at Discovery Parks.
Evening:
- Challenge the kids to a game of table tennis or chess, or check out the indoor games room before bed.

Day 4
Stay in Renmark
Morning:
- Hire bikes (if you didn’t bring your own) from the Renmark Visitor Information Centre and cruise along the riverfront trail. It’s flat, scenic and perfect for all ages.
Lunch:
- Grab lunch from Renmark Patisserie, serving up all your favourite bakery goods.
Afternoon:
- Head back to the park and relax. Chill by the river, cast a line for some fishing, or have a hit of tennis or a basketball shoot-off.
Dinner:
- Get comfy and stay in! Discovery Parks often has food trucks come in, or you could go and grab some takeaway from town.

Day 5
Renmark – Monash
Total driving distance: Approx 40kms return
Morning:
- Take a step back in time at Olivewood Historic Homestead & Museum, the original home of Renmark’s founders. There’s plenty for the kids to see and touch and stories that bring the past to life.
Lunch:
- Enjoy lunch in town. Ashley’s Restaurant is a good option for a casual sit-down meal.
Afternoon:
- Spend your final afternoon making the most of Discovery Parks. Whether it’s in the waterpark, on the jumping pillow, peddle biking, or one last kayak.
Dinner:
- Head to The Mallee Fowl Restaurant for a memorable final night out. Set among native bushland, this Australian-themed restaurant has quirky decor, delicious meals and plenty of family-friendly vibes. (Tip: book ahead to ensure a table!)

Extra tips for families
- Bring scooters or bikes for the kids. They’ll love zooming around Discovery Park’s modular pump track and trails.
- Book major experiences (like Canoe the Riverland and Loveday 4×4) in advance, especially during holidays.
- Don’t forget bathers, hats and plenty of sunscreen in summer.
- We recommend bringing breakfast supplies with you so your mornings can be enjoyed within the park. There’s something special about sipping a coffee and looking over the river while your kids play happily in the morning. No mad rush out the door!
