Pack the car, grab the beach towels, and get ready for a family adventure on the Fleurieu! This four-day itinerary blends the calm waters of Normanville with the wild beauty of Deep Creek National Park and the peaceful trails of Myponga Reservoir. It’s the perfect mix of beaches, bushwalks, and easy-going family fun.
Note: Pack your own food as most meals on this itinerary are self-catering. Alternatively, you can pop into Normanville to stock up on groceries on arrival!
Day 1
Adelaide – Normanville
Driving distance: 76km
Morning:
- Depart Adelaide in the morning with a packed picnic lunch on board and make a pitstop at Sellicks Beach en route to Normanville. The beach is pristine and perfect to let the kids run free in the shallows for a few hours.
Afternoon:
- After lunch, once the kids have sufficiently worn themselves out, head to Normanville, where you’ll be based for the next few nights to enjoy some of the best the Fleurieu Peninsula has to offer!
- Head to your accommodation to check in for your three-night stay at BIG4 Normanville Jetty Holiday Park.
- Let the kids explore the holiday park while you unpack or pitch your tent. The kids will love the nature playground, or you can head next door to the tennis courts for a family hit.
Evening:
- Freshen up back at your accommodation before stepping out for a pub meal at the Normanville Hotel. Known to locals as The Normy, they’re famed for a good schnitty, with a huge range of toppings to choose from!

Day 2
Normanville – Myponga – Normanville
Driving distance: 32km
Morning:
- Have brekky in your cabin or at the camp kitchen, and make sure you prepare and pack lunch and snacks for the day (or you could swing by the local bakery on your way out this morning for some goodies!)
- Take the short drive to Myponga Reservoir Reserve, where entry is free and you’ve got a choice of activities for the day.
- The trail here is ideal for walking and running, and you can also head to the lookout to take in the scenic surroundings.
Afternoon:
- Enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the many spots along the trail.
- Head out on the water for a paddle in your canoe or kayak (BYO) and explore the 250 hectares of water.
- Shore-based fishing is allowed within the reserve, or you can drop a line in from your canoe or kayak, as long as you have a fishing permit.
- If kayaking is not your thing, wildlife and bird-watching are popular, with over 120 bird species living in the area.
- Head back to your accommodation in Normanville.

Day 3
Normanville – Deep Creek – Normanville
Driving distance: 54km
All day:
- Have brekky in your accommodation and pack a picnic lunch and plenty of snacks for the day out.
- A full day of exploration at Deep Creek National Park, the largest portion of remaining natural vegetation on the Fleurieu Peninsula. It’s home to an array of native wildlife such as kangaroos, echidnas, and over 100 species of birds. Whales can also sometimes be seen cruising the coast during their annual migration, which takes place from June to October.
- Entry fee to the park is $13.90 for a vehicle, which allows you a full day access to all available areas, including walking trails, picnic grounds, and day visitor areas.
- There are 15 different walking trails to choose from, accommodating a range of fitness levels and abilities.
Evening:
- Treat the family to dinner at Lady Bay Resort for a meal with the most spectacular golf course views. Arrive in time for sunset to see roos on the move across the fairways.

Day 4
Normanville – Silver Sands – Adelaide
Driving distance: 76km
Morning:
- Rise and shine with a home-cooked brekky in your accommodation, then head to the beach in Normanville for a dip before hitting the road to Adelaide
Afternoon:
- Lunch en route at Silver Sands Beach Club to soak up the coastal vibes and maybe one last frolic on the beach before heading home.
